Rules & Regulations

To carry out St. Simeon's sacred ministry, we have found it necessary to establish specific rules and regulations to maintain the dignity, reverence, and beauty of the cemetery's holy ground. All our guidelines focus on furthering our bereavement ministry to families and friends of those interred here, and providing a safe environment for visitors and staff.

1. Artificial flowers, grave blankets, and other grave decorations are allowed on graves from November 1st to March 1st. Fresh cut flowers may also be placed in throw away containers or bronze vases during this period. Funeral floral pieces for graves will be removed 4-7 days after burial.

2. A border of flowers may be planted only at the front of an upright monument up to 8 inches from the front of the monument. Plans for such a border must be reviewed and approved by cemetery personnel before placement to ensure your safety and the safety of cemetery employees. We take a great deal of care when mowing these areas and we are not responsible for damage to borders or flowers.

3. Irises, rose bushes, shrubbery and trees are not allowed to be planted on any grave and will be removed. Wooden, plastic, and iron crosses are not permitted because they are hazardous to our grounds personnel. Flowers are the only adornment allowed on the graves. Any other decorations such as toys, wind chimes, holiday decorations, and stuffed animals will be removed and discarded.

4. Flags are permitted two weeks before and two weeks after Memorial Day.

5. No monument placement will be permitted until the accounts covering funeral and burial services are fully paid. Only approved markers may be placed with cemetery-installed foundations. Markers must fit established guidelines with regards to size and type of stone. These rules will be furnished upon request and most local monument companies have these rules. Homemade markers of any kind are never permitted.

6. All vases on niche doors must be bronze, provided from and installed by cemetery personnel.

7. No candles may be placed at graves or niches due to fire hazard and potential damage to headstones and doors. Any candles found will be removed.

St. Simeon Cemetery Association will accept no responsibility for the theft of flowers, vases, urns, benches, or any other articles left at the graves or niches. Further we will not be responsible for damage to monuments or markers.
