St. Simeon Cemetery was blessed on April 22, 2004 by Archbishop
Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. culminating several years of careful
planning to bring a Catholic cemetery to the growing, east metro
Denver region. Archbishop Chaput named the cemetery for St. Simeon,
a man of the Holy Spirit. Simeon was told that he would not see
death until he had met the Messiah promised to the people of God.
In the second chapter of Luke's gospel, that upon seeing the Christ
child enter the temple, Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms and
proclaimed, "Now I can die content! For I have seen the Savior you
have given to the world."
According to the Catholic Church, two places are considered sacred,
the physical worship space and a Catholic cemetery. It is of significant
importance to the church, that proper reverence be afforded to the
body, not only in life, but also in death. Our caring cemetery staff
members take great care in every aspect of the burial process to
respect the sacredness of the body and the ground in which it is
laid.
We offer full cemetery services to include standard casket and
cremated ground burials, above ground niches for cremated remains
and a full selection of grave markers.
Our caring cemetery staff stands ready to assist you with all your
cemetery related needs.
Hours:
The cemetery office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm, excluding
major holidays. Visitation hours are from dawn to dusk.
Sacred Ground:
In the Catholic faith, a cemetery is considered sacred ground and
deserves the same level of reverence one would express while in
a church building. We ask for your help in maintaining this sacred
space by placing trash, cigarette butts and discarded grave decorations
in the trash cans at the building entrances. No alcoholic beverages
are permitted on the property at anytime.
Wildlife:
We are blessed and graced with abundant wildlife here in our rural
setting, including deer, hawks, owls, coyotes and rattlesnakes.
Please be aware of the potential hazards associated with some of
these indigenous creatures as you visit the property.
